Brighter, better, longer and lighter days... make the most of them!

It's finally SUMMER! Today is the longest day of the year.

It's amazing now that the days are lasting a lot longer! Winter went on forever over late 2021 and 2022 didn't it? Don't know about you but we're feeling more energetic and productive than ever! The sun does wonderful things to our brains and helps us to focus on our important tasks. It gives us the inspiration we need to start our new goals and make the most of our extra daylight hours...

Step 1:

Set your alarm a little earlier. Waking up when the sun rises is so beneficial for us. Waking up in accord with nature is suggested in ancient texts as well as modern scientific research. According to classical yoga theory, waking up with the onset of sunlight synchronises the body’s internal biological clock, increases physical immunity and mental balance, and lifts a person spiritually. One of the best benefits of waking up early is breakfast. Breakfast supplies us with vital nutrition and keeps the body energetic during the early morning hours.

Step 2:

Waking up earlier gives you a few extra hours in the morning to work on your profession or hobby. The brain is very productive during the first few hours after a good night’s sleep. You can make the most of this for your studies or career progression. Ever heard of the 5 am club? It’s a very absurd yet rewarding concept all for the benefit of extra productivity and self-improvement. During this time, you follow the 20/20/20 rule of twenty minutes exercise, twenty minutes planning or journaling and twenty minutes of study, supposedly setting you up for a smashing day ahead. Read Robin Sharma’s book on it to learn more.

Step 3:

Some people are really not morning people or you have work or family commitments. The good news is, that the lighter evenings can give you the time you need to work on your own self-development. Whether that be exercising, meal prepping, chores or studying, or even prepping your day for tomorrow! Exposing the body and eyes to sunlight also boosts the psychological morale of a person. Additionally, according to studies, yellow and reddish hues of sunlight stimulate optimistic energy in the brain.

The sunlight in all its glory, has massive potential to help you to optimise your personal and professional performance. Even small wins can help your overall productivity and can help you feel even more accomplished. Sometimes quantity of tasks does beat quality of them. Check out some new e-learning and CPD (continuous professional development) courses that can boost your CV to new heights above the basic crowd. Morning people are better positioned for education or career success and tend to be more proactive than evening people. Further, they are more likely to spend time identifying long-range goals for themselves and feel in charge of making them happen.

Give these steps a go for a good week and let us know how you get on. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results.
