6 reasons to start a Home-Based childminding service

It seems like a great idea to offer childcare in your home, but what’s involved? Would it be right for you?

Firstly, when done correctly, childcare can be a great business. Here are some things you should consider if you think this might be the right business for you.

Reason 1: You are at home!

Because you are at home, you can wear what you feel like. You can start work in the best mood! No more rushing around trying to see what you need with you for the day; it is all already there! No more packing or paying for lunch; it’s right there in the fridge!

You could even put on washing or do dishes while you care for children.

Reason 2: No more commuting!

You can say goodbye to that overcrowded or frustrating commute to work. Instead, you will start work calm, relaxed, and ready to welcome children for the day.

Reason 3: More affordable opening costs!

Opening a nursery in your home will be much cheaper than opening one on separate premises. We can help you get set up properly and meet the qualification criteria for this career. Where Ofsted is concerned, they are less strict with people working in their own home than those with separate premises. For instance, Ofsted will be less likely to stipulate that you need to add extra toilet facilities to your home. Additionally, you can claim some of your heating and lighting expenses back through tax.

Reason 4: You can care for your own youngsters!

If you have young children, then by offering a childcare facility, you have an instant solution for your own children’s care, and who better to provide that than you! It is also a great chance to spend quality time with your children.

Reason 5: You will be your own boss!

Apart from Ofsted, you will have no one to answer to but yourself. You will be your own boss. There will be nothing to curtail your creativity or how you want to entertain your children. You can work the hours that you wish to. There will be more popular times, such as when parents are away from their homes, but this tends to still be in the daytime, and you can offer your services any time you choose.

Reason 6: You are offering an essential service!

Parents will highly value safe, reliable and nurturing childcare.

Childcare at home can be an excellent career choice, and we offer the courses you need to prepare you for this exciting new venture.

The difference between childminding and childcare

The two are pretty similar, but offering childcare has better earning potential. For example, offering childcare facilities, you can look after eight 3-year-old children compared to just three as a childminder. For babies, when you provide childcare in your home, you can look after three babies compared to just one if you are a childminder. Of course, other ratios include children of various ages.
