Government Reviews Call for Improvements to Social Work Education [Poll]

Yesterday, the Guardian reported on two government-commissioned reviews which have called for improvements to social work education. A Poll has also been set up in order to gauge the opinions of the general public regarding social work education, and whether or not it is in need of reform.
The government has published two reports on social work education this month. Martin Narey's review of children's social work said trainees spend too much time studying abstract political theory and not enough on practical instruction, leaving them unprepared for the demands of frontline safeguarding. And a newly published report by Professor David Croisdale-Appleby makes 22 recommendations to improve social work education, including increased specialisation and fast-track entry routes for top graduates into adult services.
