Children & Young People's Workforce Courses

Children & Young People's Workforce Courses are intended to guide and assess development of knowledge and skills relating to the children and young people's workforce and will provide progression to the early learning and childcare, social care and learning development and support services workforces. The qualification confirms competence in these areas where appropriate and serves as the required qualification (for all new practitioners) for registration and regulatory requirements in the sector. Who is this qualification for? This qualification is intended to guide and assess development of knowledge and skills relating to the children and young people's workforce and will provide progression to the early learning and childcare, social care and learning development and support services workforces. How long will this qualification take? Around 50 weeks but the exact timescale will be agreed at the initial planning meeting. The Mandatory units are:

• Unit 1 Contribute to the Support of Child and Young Person Development
• Unit 2 Managing Paediatric Illness and Injury
• Unit 3 Contribute to Children and Young People's Health and Safety
• Unit 4 Contribute to the Support of Positive Environments for Children and Young People
• Unit 5 Understand Partnership Working in Services for Children and Young People
• Unit 6 Paediatric Emergency First Aid
• Unit 7 Introduction to Communication in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings
• Unit 8 Introduction to Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings
• Unit 9 Introduction to Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings
• Unit 10 Child and Young Person Development
• Unit 11 Safeguarding the Welfare of Children and Young People
• Unit 12 Maintain and Support Relationships with Children and Young People
• Unit 13 Support Children and Young People's Positive Behaviour
