On the first three days, you will receive training, supervision and guidance and be taught about various aspects such as legal responsibilities, how to motivate learners, ground rules, equality and diversity, individual needs of learners, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment and roles as a teacher. You will demonstrate your understanding of the units through written assignments, reflecting your knowledge of what you’ve learnt.
You will also need to perform a micro-teach on the last day (the following Monday). You will have ample time to prepare for the presentation on your days off - and then you will essentially be acting as a trainer. It should be a presentation (using PowerPoint, for example) about a topic relevant to your current industry area (you should have a relevant qualification for the topic you’re teaching). This teaching session will be approximately 30 minutes long.
