    Entry & Technical Requirements

    There are no formal or academic requirements for completing this course, however, candidates enrolling in this course should ensure they have a good understanding of the English language and have a basic IT/ knowledge as the course is computer and online-based.

    To be eligible for online examination learners will need to have a laptop/computer with the following features:

    • A Web Camera
    • A computer/laptop with a webcam and microphone (must have either Windows or MacOS operating system)

    You will also need

    • A smartphone with a camera and microphone

    You will need to have a quiet room where they will not be disturbed during their exam.

    What will I learn?

    The QCF Level 1 Health and Safety in Construction Environment course teaches you about:

    • Fundamentals of health and safety and risk assessment on construction sites
    • Safe manual handling on site
    • Working safely at height on site
    • Health and safety risks on site
    • On-site working practices and equipment safety
    How the exam works

    Once you have completed all of the course, you can then use the online calendar booking tool on your online learning account to book your Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Exam. 

    We do require a 7 days notice to book your test, so you will have plenty of time to prepare and study before then. 

    On the day of your exam, you will need to place your mobile device into one corner of the room with the camera on and you will need to have your computer's webcam and microphone turned on, as well as sharing your screen with the examiner during your test.

    Full guidance and links will be sent to you once you have booked your exam. 

    To pass the exam, you must score 32/40 correct.

    Career Progression & Certification

    On completion of this course and exam, candidates will receive a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment qualification which is one of two requirements for the CSCS Green Labourer Card.

    The CSCS Green Labourer Card can help you to progress in the Construction industry as a labourer.

    How do I get a CSCS Card?

    1. Complete this Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment course and pass the exam

    This level 1 course is delivered online so you can start the course whenever you are ready. 

    2. Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test

    This is a 45-minute touch screen test held at various CITB centres around the country. You must pass this CITB test as one of two requirements. We can arrange for you to do this at the closest CITB centre to you your postcode.

    3. Apply for a CSCS green labourer card through CITB

    You simply email the level 1 certificate for the course to CITB and, providing you also passed the CITB test, you will get your CSCS Card. The application costs £36 which you pay to CITB.

    Exam Results & Certification

    Results for your examination are available immediately on your screen, therefore results will not be emailed to you. 

    If you passed your exam, you can expect to receive your certificate within 2-5-working days. Your certificate will be sent to you by email as an e-certificate. We do not issue paper certificates for this course.

    You can request a breakdown of your results, this will cost £25.00. This will show you all of the areas you scored high and low for, but will not show you the questions that you did right and wrong exactly. 

    Score reports are available for request and are free of charge. A score report will only show you the number of questions you got right, eg. 32/40.

    Fees for Retakes, Rescheduling, and Additional Services

    If in the unfortunate event you are not successful in your exam, or you had missed your examination, you will need to pay £54.00 to retake the exam. The same fee applies if you need to reschedule your exam and you have not provided 2-working days' notice.

    You can reschedule your examination free of charge if you let us know more than 2-workings days in advance. You can do this by emailing [email protected]

    This course is non-refundable once you have logged in to your online learning account, regardless of whether you have completed the training or taken the final exam. You can find more information about this on the terms and conditions on our website.
