6 Qualifications that Will Boost Any CV

According to President of Job Market Experts, Robert Meier, only the top 2% of candidates make it to the interview stage of the recruitment process. It doesn't matter how passionate you are about your career goals. If you can't get an interview you won't have the opportunity to express your passion to the employer. So, how do you get your foot in the door? The best way is to improve your CV. And you can do so by adding extra qualifications that can help you stand out amongst other candidates. For this post, I've compiled a list of great qualifications, all of which are versatile, and offered by The Learning Station.

1. Customer Service Apprenticeship

Taking this apprenticeship will prepare you to move up the ranks in any business. It is perfect for younger people who want to break into the working world. By taking this apprenticeship you'll be given a paid work experience placement for the duration of the apprenticeship (which lasts for 12 months). Once you have completed the apprenticeship, you'll receive either a Level 2 or Level 3 diploma in customer service.

2. Business Admin

No matter what kind of work you're doing, if it's making money, it's a business. Businesses need people who can ensure that things are organised, running smoothly, and be able to check on their progress. This course is perfect for anyone who wants to pursue a career in administration. It will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in this sector.

3. First Aid

I've already discussed the virtues of a first aid qualifications before, but let me reiterate some major points. No matter where you work, there is a chance that you or another worker could get injured on the job. This is where you and your first aid qualification come in. Also if you're curious about a career as a health care professional, this will give you taster of what of it is like.

4. Fire Safety

Fire Safety goes hand in hand with first aid. Holding a fire safety qualification shows you are willing to learn new skills and shows that you're happy to take on responsibility. If you already have your fire safety basics covered then the person interviewing you knows that's one less thing you have to be trained on. Needing less training than any other candidate automatically makes you look a lot more favourable. Plus, if you're the only qualified member of the team, you'll usually be given the role of fire safety marshal.

5. Conflict Management

Although you'll need a level 3 teaching qualification to take this course, it can really put you ahead of the game. Businesses - no matter what kind - have to be able to manage conflict in a professional manner. By having this qualification, you'll be ready to train others in proper conflict management. Any time you can teach other employees something is an upside for your employer, because that means they don't have to outsource that task.

6. Equality and Diversity

Just about any place of employment is considered an equal opportunity employer. This means they don't discriminate when it comes to race, religious beliefs, sex, or sexual orientation. By having this qualification you'll be prepared to train others in equality and diversity. This qualification is great for anyone interested in landing a job in Human Resources within any company.

It doesn't matter if you're still conflicted about what you want to do with your life. You have plenty of time to figure it out. However, while you're figuring it out, you can be proactive. Look into some of these courses, any one of them will help your CV stand out above your equally indecisive peers. As you take more initiative to teach yourself new things — even if they're broad in category — a path will begin to unfold as a result. Who knows, you may even become interested in a whole new line of work, just by studying for an extra qualification. I've linked each of theses courses throughout the article.
