5 Reasons Why You Should Work in Health & Social Care

So, you're tired of your current career – or the lack thereof – and you want to change your profession. The only problem is, you have no idea what you want to do.

There are several areas you could study but there is  one in particular worth mentioning; the Health & Social Care industry.

There are a lot of misconceptions about pursuing a career in the health and social care professions. Many people believe that to be a health or social care worker you must be a doctor or a nurse, and if you aren't then you simply will not make enough money to justify a difficult and stressful job.

Others believe that there's no sense of satisfaction that comes with working in theses fields.

These people are wrong on both accounts.

Health and social care jobs are not stressful monsters that chew up and spit out anyone without a white coat or scrubs on. Whether, health and social care jobs are  challenging yet rewarding jobs for individuals looking for the things I've listed below.

 Health & Social Care

1.  A Chance to Help Others

There are plenty of sustainable and high paying careers out there that will keep your wallet full, but most will  not give you the same sense of satisfaction you can gain from helping those in need of important care.

By working in health care, you help others improve their physical health and by working in social care you help improve the sociological well being of those in your community.

2.  A Chance to Improve Your Character

Character building is more than just a useful way for you to improve your résumé it is an important part of being a human. As Helen Keller once said;

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”

I can think of no better way to put oneself to trial than through the kind of work that is accomplished by helping those in need.

3.  A Career That's in Demand in the U.K.

According to a article published in 2015 on GOV.UK, nearly two-million more workers will need to be trained in the health and social care fields by the year 2022. That is a mere six years away.

So, why not become part of the solution as you grow your own career and character?

4.  A Job for Life

Working in a dead end job can be disheartening, especially if you know that it won't even last that long.

On the flip side, health and social care jobs are jobs that can last a lifetime. There are such wide and diverse fields to get involved in, and the  opportunities for advancement are nearly endless without the need to switch focuses entirely.
